Becoming a Reviewer
IJIRMS welcomes qualified researchers and healthcare
professionals with relevant subject expertise to participate in peer review.
Reviewers are selected according to their academic or
professional expertise, research experience, methodological knowledge, and
suitability for the manuscript.
Reviewer Responsibilities
Reviewers should:
- Accept assignments only when they have appropriate expertise.
- Decline the invitation if a conflict of interest exists.
- Complete reviews within the agreed period.
- Treat manuscripts and associated material as confidential.
- Provide objective, respectful, and evidence-based comments.
- Identify important ethical or methodological concerns.
- Avoid using unpublished information obtained through peer review.
Review Criteria
Reviewers should consider:
- Originality and significance
- Relevance to the journal
- Scientific and methodological quality
- Statistical approach
- Ethical compliance
- Clarity of presentation
- Validity of conclusions
- Quality of figures and tables
- Adequacy and relevance of references
- Compliance with appropriate reporting standards
Reviewer Reports
A useful review should explain the major strengths and
weaknesses of the manuscript and distinguish issues that affect scientific
validity from recommendations intended mainly to improve presentation.
Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate.
Confidentiality and AI
Reviewers must protect the confidentiality of unpublished
manuscripts.
Manuscripts, figures, tables, datasets, or other
confidential material should not be entered into publicly available AI systems
where confidentiality cannot be guaranteed.
Reviewers remain personally responsible for the content and
recommendations of their reports.
Reviewer Recommendation
Reviewers may normally recommend:
- Accept
- Minor Revision
- Major Revision
- Reject
The recommendation is advisory. The final decision rests
with the Editor.
Publication Ethics
Reviewers should alert the Editor to concerns involving
plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabricated or falsified data, inappropriate
image manipulation, unethical research, authorship problems, or other potential
misconduct.
Reviewers should not contact authors directly about
confidential concerns unless instructed by the Editor.
Reporting Standards
Where applicable, reviewers should consider whether the
manuscript follows appropriate reporting guidance, including CONSORT, PRISMA,
STROBE, CARE, STARD, ARRIVE, SPIRIT, and other relevant standards.
Timeliness
If a reviewer cannot complete an assignment within the
requested period, the Editorial Office should be informed promptly.
